When women aren’t dueling “Etta James v. Beyonce”-style or flubbing their lines at concerts, they’re generally making great strides in their careers and accomplishing some pretty amazing things. And now, according to an online The New York Times article, the number of working women in the U.S. is set to surpass that of men, for the first time in history.

But the reason for this historic occurrence isn’t necessarily cause for celebration, as it is largely a reflection of recent layoffs, as well as the industries in which these layoffs are occurring.
