I’ve commented on this before – year after year, employee surveys show that the number one thing that employees want is to be cared about.
A company called DaVita is the personification of this. In fact, they call themselves a “village.” Their villages have “mayors.” Their employees who are called “teammates” are also called citizens. The company has 47 programs aimed at supporting their employees.
I’ve said that great companies have inspirational vision. DaVita is thinking worldwide. They presently are the largest dialysis provider in the U.S. having over 115,000 patients in 43 states.
I’ve also said that great companies have powerful mission statements and stated values. Their mission is “To be the Provider, Partner and Employer of Choice.” They live by seven values including Team, Personal Fulfillment and Fun.
DaVita has received many awards as an employer. They are one of Fortune’s most admired companies.
Human Resources is called “People Services” and the “Dream Team.”
When is the last time anyone called your HR Department, the Dream Team?
