Over There

Posted on 16. October 2009 by HumanRaceHorses

For the past several weeks, I have been running a weekly feature that I have been calling “Over There”.  The idea behind “Over There” is to network with bloggers and HR professionals in my network who are living and working outside the United States, which is where most but certainly not all of readers of the Human Race Horses blog live.

Over There in the United Kingdom

I am deeply indebtd to Bill Boorman for providing invaluable connections to excellent bloggers and writers.  I wouldn’t have got this idea off the ground without him and his help.  Bill was also generous enough to contribute a post on HR called The 9th Wonder of the World.  It was a  very interesting perspective on the currenet state of human resources, written from the somewhat outside perspective of a recruiter.  It is an interesting read and worth checking out.

The Savage Truth from Australia

The inaugural post for Over There was provided by Greg Savage from The Savage Truth.  Greg is the International CEO, Europe and Asia Pacific for Aquent,  the only global staffing company dedicated to marketing and design.  Greg is currently based in Australia, and you can find him on Twitter and LinkedIn.  Greg wrote about the state of recruiting in Australia, and how different recruiters approach their work.

Over There in India

Our third guest blogger was a contact of mine, Gautam Ghosh.  As I have written before, I have visited India in the past and am fascinated by the country, the people, and the culture.  Right now, it is a holiday season over there, as much of the country celebrates Diwali or the Festival of Lights.   You can celebrate Diwali here by reading his excellent and informative post on the development of HR in India.

Gautam Ghosh is a HR consultant and social media geek. He blogs at http://www.gautamblogs.com and you can follow him on Twitter http://twitter.com/gautamghosh and Facebook http://www.facebook.com/HR.Blogger.

Over There in New Zealand

Our most recent post was provided by Oracle Recruiter and b;logger David Talamelli.  His post discussed the turf wars of recruiting technologies as viewed from one country to another, a great topic for this type of feature.  I was very happy to see that David’s post was picked by Smartbrief on Workforce as a featured article last week!

Up next: Back in the USSR UK

Jon Ingham who blogs about strategic human capital, and who just hosted an astonishingly useful version of the HR Carnival that he called the Social Business Carnival has kindly agreed to provide out next post from “Over There”.

Jon, I can’t wait!
