JobDig, a leading employment focused media, advertising, and technology company, has introduced four new subscription packages for their applicant tracking system (ATS) – JobDig Tracker. The new packages have been developed to offer greater flexibility and availability to clients with demanding business requirements and tighter budgets caused from current market conditions.

Day to day we all take sending and receiving email for granted. Whether its messages to our family and friends or colleagues and clients, we expect them to be delivered instantly and accurately. However, we all know that technology has hiccups now and then.

I while ago I did a tip of the week that covered testing your Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to find out if automated emails are getting sent out correctly. This week I would like to suggest testing the email tracking capabilities of your ATS. Please note that not all ATSs have this functionality.

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I was going to start a new Q&A section. This is the first related post for applicant tracking systems (ATS) I received from a reader, and I’ve posted the questions exactly how I’ve received them. The questions stem from the reader considering signing up for several ATS trials.

It has been a long time since anything new has been posted. However, things have kept me been incredibility busy. In absences of my posts, many of you have been sending me questions directly, which I’m absolutely thrilled about. Please continue sending them to me. I’m going to be adding a section to the blog which covers the questions that I’ve answered for other folks. Don’t worry, I will be only using the questions and not private information such as names, emails, or companies. With that being said, please feel free to send me any ATS questions that you might have.

Normally I wouldn’t post information directly related to JobDig Tracker. However, I’m going to break my rules this time because I think it is a great article.

New JobDig Tracker Update Further Optimizes the Hiring Process

I started this blog several months ago in order to share some of my thoughts about applicant tracking systems. The number of visitors has naturally gone up over time. However, I was pleasantly surprised today when I found in one of my searches that TheATSGuy.com has a small ranking on Compete.com.

Thank you to everyone that reads my blog!

Recently, AIRS release the 2009 Job Board and Recruiting Technology Directory. You can find it by clicking here. However, don’t get your hopes up for a complete listing of applicant tracking systems (ATS). I found that several systems were not listed. In addition, I found that some links lead to “dead” sites while others still had their pre-aquistion names listed, but still linked to the new company. To create an actual good list, I will try and make a 2009 listing of applicant tracking systems which I will try and keep up to date. I encourage anyone to send me recommendations to include ATSs that didn’t make my last list: Applicant Tracking List.

It has been awhile since I’ve really had a chance to write a post about any specific applicant tracking system (ATS) topics. However, I thought I would offer a last minute invite to anyone interested in a FREE webinar entitled Simplify the Hiring Process: An Introduction to Applicant Tracking Systems. I will be talking about ATS solutions in a general sense and highlight benefits with a demonstration highlighting JobDig Tracker. If you happen to miss this webinar, please let me know if you would like to attend my next one. I would be happy to send you an invitation directly.

Taleo’s New Issue

By Jake Stupak | December 16, 2008

I think one of the best blogs out there is Cheezhead.com. In today’s posts, Taleo Creating ‘Web Constipation’ for Candidates?, Vanessa Dennis shares information about a new Taleo problem. Apparetly, Taleo isn’t play friendly with some of the job board aggrigators out there. Be sure to check it out!

In the last several months, there have been a huge number of layoffs. Lots of very talented, experienced, and motivated folks have unfortunately been affected. Earlier this week, I read an article written by GL Hoffman on US News entitled When HR is Bad PR. The article highlights the efforts that should be made to reply to candidates. The article made think – “How many more resumes are recruiters and HR professionals receiving because of the recent layoffs?”

This is where I would like some participation and comments from you. How many more resumes have you noticed? I’m just looking for a general sense and not an accurate percentage or count…though it is great if you know this number and are willing to share. However, sticking with the general sense, I’m just looking for something like “a bunch more” or “about the same.” It would also be nice to know perhaps your location and industry. Submitting anonymously is certainly welcome.

Answering the resume question above should be very easy for anyone with an applicant tracking system (ATS). If you currently don’t have an ATS, now would be a terrific time to consider implementing a solution to organize additional candidates while quickly identify the strongest ones. I would be happy to discuss it with you more if you are interested in learning. In fact, I will be hosting a webinar next Wednesday (12.17.2008) at 1:00PM CST for anyone interested in learning the basics of an ATS. Space is limited, but feel free to contact me if you would like to attend.

Thank you in advance for anyone that shares information.

I’ve been thinking about writing a buy versus build post for sometime
about applicant tracking systems. However, Kenneth Peck has written a
great post about the subject. Make sure to read his article: Recruiting Software – Rolling Your Own.

LinkUp Highlighted

By Jake Stupak | November 24, 2008

Today while going through my RSS feeds, I found a post which was quite unexpected. LinkUp, a great site for job seekers and part of JobDig, was highlighted as a “KillerStartup.” Also, if you didn’t get enough of voting this month, here is you opportunity to try again. The folks at JobDig would greatly appreciate your vote if you like what you see!

It’s Friday afternoon, and you just posted a position with your applicant tracking system (ATS). The position has been placed on your website, job boards and the other usual sources. When you come to work on Monday, you realize that you have had over 200 candidates apply for the position.

Sound familiar? Well it doesn’t necessary need to be a Friday, but many companies experience this type of high candidate volume for certain positions. Even with an applicant tracking system, this could be a quite the chore to review all the information and resumes. This is where candidate and position matching features can help save the day…or at least some very busy work.

The candidate and position matching feature available in certain ATSs serve users “pre-qualified” candidates to help ease the burden of reading resumes one-by-one. The ATS can identify either keywords or the skill sets required for the position then run a search against a resume as it is submitted. If there is a match, the ATS can send a notification such as an email to the recruiter/HR professional.

For this weeks tip, try testing the accuracy of your ATS’s matching system. Apply with a resume that you created as a “perfect match” and see how it ranks or if the ATS identified it as a match. Then try working your way down to the George Costanza resume. Be sure to generate a bogus position so you don’t skew performance in your reports.

Applicant Tracking

By Jake Stupak | November 12, 2008

I ran across a listing of applicant tracking system (ATS) vendors today when I was reading the Recruiting Nevada blog. I was a bit disappointed to see that JobDig Tracker didn’t make the list, so I created my own list. Some are listed by product name while others by company name. I encourage everyone to comment if I have missed some.
